Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Quiet a few things happened since my last post. Unfortunately there is still oil coming out of the well into the Gulf. Even so that BP is pumping about 210,000 gallons per day into a tank ship at the surface and nobody knows how much oil really is getting into the Gulf every single day. However for Florida there are some good news. Florida and the Keys are in no immediate danger. Wind and current are steering the oil away from Florida and this should stay like this for at least the next 72 hours. BP is starting to pump drill mud into the well coming Tuesday and we all are hoping that this will stop new oil entering the Gulf of Mexico. The relief well will take until August to be completed and only the relief well can shut down the leaking well permanently.

Today I discovered a pretty good interactive map with a forecast of the oil spill;

I will keep on updating frequently.
